Harbhajan Singh Plaha, also known as ‘Turbanator’
Age – 21
From Jullundhar, Punjab, India

Bowled a brilliant hat-trick in the second test against Australia – taking the wickets of Ricky Ponting, Adam Gilchrist and Shane Warne.

Took 32 wickets in three matches

Donned his Indian cap at the age of 18.

 

 

 

Mohammad Ashraful
Age - 17
Bangladesh

Set a record as the youngest ever player to score a Test century (114). Ashraful scored his century against Sri Lanka playing in the Asian Test Championship in September 2001.

Became the fastest bowler to reach 350 Test wickets - in his 66th Test, playing against Bangladesh. It was the same match where the 17 year old Ashraful from Bangladesh scored his debut centur

Claimed 14 wickets in the Colombo Test in December 2001 against West Indies.

The Pakistani captain

Became the first batsman to reach 10,000 runs in one-day internationals - during the 118 run victory against Australia at the Nehru Stadium.

Vangipurappu Venkat Sai Laxman
Age 27
India

Made his record breaking 281 at Kolkata against Australia in March 2001 - the highest Test score by an Indian.

He surpassed Sunil Gavaskar's record innings of 236 not out against West Indies at Madras in 1983.
