The Obamas in India Day 1 - Mumbai - Nov.6, 2010
President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama arrived
at Chattrapati Shivaji International airport in Mumbai, India, in the early
afternoon of November 6, on Air Force One. They proceeded to the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel – a heritage
waterfront property- where they stayed in the Presidential Suite. The
President and the First Lady signed the visitor’s book and addressed a
gathering of survivors of 26/11. The Taj Hotel was a prime target of
terrorist attacks that had gripped the city on November 26, 2008.
Post museum visit, President Obama met with CEOs of major
global corporations at the Trident Nariman Point Hotel, as part of a
business summit, hosted by the U.S.-India Business Council.
The First Lady Michelle Obama, meanwhile went to the Mumbai
University, where she played hopscotch, and conversed with 33
disadvantaged children who are being taught English by Make a Difference, a
nonprofit group. She also spoke to them about the value of education in
one’s life. Day 3 (cntd.)
