Cuisine Diplomacy

What the General was served!

It was cuisine diplomacy from the word Go!

14 July - Taj Palace Hotel, Delhi

Luncheon hosted by Prime Minister Atal Behari
Vajpayee in honour of General Pervez Musharraf

Chef Hemant Oberoi made a last minute addition to the following menu when he learnt that the General's favourite dish was 'daal gosht' (mutton cooked with lentils).

Appetisers

makhmali murg ke tikke

dariya ke ratan (charcoal-broiled pickled tiger prawns)

chaamp-e-Lucknowi (kid lamb chops flavoured with herbs and spices)

and

machhli tukda

followed by

 badam bahar

Main Courses

sali boti(sweet and spicy boneless mutton),

safed badami murg (chicken in almond paste and yoghurt gravy),

 guchchi palak,

nizam-e-bahar,

chilman-e-chilgoza

and

kulchas.

And the General's favourite - dal gosht

Desserts

Do they really matter after the above??

General's comments: ''Bahut umda''

15 July - Jaypee Palace Hotel - Agra

Korma

First Lady's Comments: Wanted recipes for  Mulligatawny Soup,
Nalli Gosht and Murg Ke Parchey.

Wonder why the slow outcome of the Agra Summit!

P.S. The dinners/banquets were State occasions - far more advanced in the complexity and number of dishes served.

Cheers!
