Age 27 and 28 respectively

Won their second French Open in June 2001.

Hockey

India beat S Africa 2-1 and won the Champions Challenge Tournament in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. 

This victory qualifies India to the 2002 Champions Trophy in Cologne, Germany. 

Captain Baljit Singh Dhillon played his best match of the tournament and won the man-of-the-match award.

Indian Juniors beat Argentina 6 – 1 to win the Junior World Cup. 

Deepak Thakur scored a hat-trick and was also the tournament’s highest scorer with ten goals.
